Insurance 101

Because orthodontic treatment occurs over a period of time, your insurance will pay over the course of time. Depending on your policy, this could be monthly, quarterly, or semi-annually. Any changes of policy throughout the course of treatment could affect the payment amount received from insurance. Please contact our office as soon as possible if you have ended or changed insurance policies.

Being in network with insurance “means that a healthcare provider, like a dentist, has a contract with your dental insurance company to provide services at a pre-negotiated rate, essentially meaning they are part of the insurance company’s network of preferred providers, allowing you to typically pay less for dental services when you use them compared to out-of-network providers.” When you see dental billing or contracts with an ‘insurance discount’, this is the reduction amount from the cost the provider charges versus the allowed amount from your dental insurance. It’s like a coupon!

We are in-network with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Delta, Guardian, Aetna, Humana, Ameritas, Principal and MetLife.  We alsod accept credit, debit, ACH, FSA, and HSA

At Connell Orthodontics we keep our fees in line with insurance to begin with, so you won’t typically see huge insurance discounts. We like to be more straight forward with our costs. We will always check your policy prior to treatment, and we would be happy to send out a predetermination of benefits to your insurance prior to treatment at your request.

Being out of network with dental insurance usually does not make a difference with orthodontics. We can bill out to most insurance plans, and our admin team will handle the details for you. We will always check your policy prior to treatment, and we would be happy to send out a predetermination of benefits to your insurance prior to treatment at your request.
